About the Role
Our client runs large-scale Engineering operations from Luqa, Malta and needs an experienced Senior HR Coordinator to be the day-to-day HR partner for that department. You will be the first point of contact for employees and managers on everything from recruitment to employee relations.
It is a broad, hands-on generalist role: you will coordinate hiring and onboarding, keep HR administration and compliance tight (work permits, collective agreements, Maltese employment law), support training, performance and engagement, and produce the regular HR reporting that management relies on.
Strong written and spoken English is essential. Because part of the workforce is Spanish-speaking, Spanish fluency is a real asset in this role; Maltese is also an advantage. It suits an HR professional with at least two years' experience who enjoys being close to the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruitment for approved vacancies — drafting job descriptions, screening applications, scheduling interviews and supporting candidate selection
- Coordinate the onboarding and induction of new employees
- Keep communication with candidates clear and collect the required employment documentation
- Manage HR administration: engagements, terminations, work permits, identification cards, sick leave and injury records
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures, employment legislation and collective agreements
- Act as the main HR contact for Engineering employees on HR queries and concerns
- Support employee engagement, motivation and welfare initiatives
- Coordinate training needs analysis and learning & development initiatives
- Support the performance management process
- Assist with disciplinary matters and employee relations issues
- Coordinate team-building activities and employee events
- Maintain accurate employee records in HR systems
- Prepare weekly, biweekly and monthly HR reports
- Support HR projects and other duties assigned by management
Requirements
- Minimum two years of experience in a Human Resources role
- Education to A-Level standard or equivalent
- Experience with recruitment, interviewing and onboarding
- HRIS knowledge and hands-on experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Knowledge of Maltese employment legislation (advantageous)
- Spanish or Maltese fluency (advantageous)
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Confident, professional approach with employees and management
- Sound problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of discretion and professionalism with confidential information
- Candidates must be currently residing in Malta

- Experience supporting a workforce that operates under a collective agreement
