Proposal Engineer – Energy Solutions — Żejtun, Malta
About the Role
Our client is an established engineering and energy solutions company in Malta, providing technical solutions and services within the power and energy sector. They are looking for an experienced Proposal Engineer to join their On-Site Energy department in Żejtun.
You will be responsible for preparing accurate technical and commercial quotations and tender submissions for generator sets, energy systems, spare parts, overhauls, installations, testing and commissioning, coordinating effectively with multiple departments and suppliers.
It suits an engineer with strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness and attention to detail, and at least three years' experience in proposals, estimating, tendering or technical sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer enquiries, technical specifications, drawings, bills of quantities and tender documents
- Prepare complete and accurate technical and commercial quotations
- Obtain and compare prices from suppliers and subcontractors
- Calculate equipment, labour, transport, installation and commissioning costs
- Prepare scopes of work, assumptions, exclusions, delivery periods, payment terms and warranty details
- Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics and Operations to ensure accurate and timely proposals
- Manage quotation and tender deadlines effectively
- Respond to customer clarifications and prepare quotation revisions when required
- Maintain accurate proposal and quotation trackers
- Support the handover of awarded projects to the relevant operational teams
- Ensure all proposals are commercially competitive while meeting technical and customer requirements
Requirements
- Technical qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Energy Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in proposals, estimating, tendering or technical sales
- Hands-on experience preparing technical and commercial quotations is essential
- Experience within power generation, generator sets, engines, energy systems or industrial equipment is considered an advantage
- Strong ability to understand technical specifications and prepare detailed cost estimates
- Good commercial awareness and strong attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
- Willingness to travel when required
