About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair the heavy equipment used on their construction projects in Malta, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders and other heavy machinery.
You will work closely with the maintenance team to keep every machine running smoothly and efficiently, diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues and carrying out the routine servicing, repairs and replacements (oil changes, filter replacements, tyre rotations) that keep equipment safe and productive.
It suits an experienced mechanic with at least two years in a similar role and strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and electrical systems, who works well both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements and tyre rotations
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with heavy equipment
- Perform necessary repairs and replacements to ensure equipment is running safely and efficiently
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repairs performed on equipment
- Work closely with the maintenance team to schedule and prioritise repairs
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols at all times
- Communicate any potential issues or concerns to management in a timely manner
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and electrical systems
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have the pre-departure course certificate
- Good working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
