About the Role
Outreach Recruitment is seeking a Plate Shop Foreman for a full-time, on-site shipyard role based in Paola, Malta. The position supervises plate shop and steel fabrication activities across cutting, forming, assembly, and project coordination work.
This role suits an experienced fabrication or ship repair supervisor with strong knowledge of steel structures, workshop coordination, technical drawings, production schedules, and HSE standards in a marine or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise plate shop and steel fabrication activities across cutting, forming, and assembly work.
- Direct teams to maintain workflow, quality, and project progress.
- Monitor schedules and ensure work is completed in line with technical specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication plans.
- Coordinate with Production, Project Management, Quality, and HSE departments.
- Manage resources and resolve operational issues to maintain productivity.
- Support safe working practices across workshop and shipyard operations.
Requirements
- Demonstrated background in shipbuilding, ship repair, or steel fabrication.
- Prior supervisory or foreman experience in workshop settings.
- Expertise in steel structures and shipyard operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Ship repair and marine engineering project experience.
- Strong leadership, planning, and organisational ability.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Experience leading plate shop teams on marine or heavy industrial projects.
- Confidence coordinating across production, project management, quality, and HSE functions.
- Hands-on knowledge of cutting, forming, assembly, and fabrication sequencing.
