About the Role
Outreach Recruitment is seeking a Marine Turner for a full-time, on-site shipyard role based in Paola, Malta. The position supports ship repair and refit work through precision turning, machining, component repair, and workshop or onboard vessel support.
This role is suited to an experienced Turner, Machinist, or Lathe Operator with marine or heavy engineering experience, strong drawing interpretation skills, and confidence working with precision measuring tools and machining tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform turning and machining operations for ship repair and refit initiatives.
- Repair and manufacture components such as shafts, bushings, flanges, and bearing housings.
- Operate conventional and CNC lathes for precision machining work.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and machining instructions.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring tools.
- Support maintenance teams during vessel overhaul activities.
- Work in workshops and onboard vessels as required by project needs.
- Maintain compliance with quality and safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Turner, Machinist, or Lathe Operator in marine or heavy engineering.
- Experience in mechanical repair and maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of machining processes and tolerances.
- Knowledge of shipyard safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Experience with conventional and CNC lathe operations in a shipyard environment.
- Background repairing marine shafts, bushings, flanges, or bearing housings.
- Ability to support both workshop and onboard vessel assignments.
