Outreach Recruitment is hiring a Fleet Mechanical Superintendent for a maritime organisation in Marsaxlokk, Malta, responsible for the mechanical performance and reliability of a 35-vessel Mediterranean fleet serving commercial fishing and aquaculture operations.

The Fleet Mechanical Superintendent manages the mechanical condition of engines, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and deck machinery across the fleet, diagnoses faults, coordinates repairs with workshops and shipyards, and plans preventive and corrective maintenance programmes. This is a senior technical role requiring at least 5 years' relevant experience and willingness to travel across Malta and the Mediterranean region.

• Manage the mechanical condition of engines, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and deck machinery fleet-wide
• Diagnose mechanical faults and coordinate repairs with workshops and shipyards
• Plan preventive and corrective maintenance programmes
• Specify spare parts and support procurement
• Monitor equipment performance and investigate mechanical failures
• Provide technical support to vessel masters remotely and on-site
• Maintain maintenance records and contribute to budgeting
• Ensure work complies with safety standards and regulations
• Maximise vessel availability and minimise downtime

• Marine Engineering qualification or equivalent mechanical/technical trade qualification
• Minimum 5 years' experience in marine engineering, mechanical superintendent, or workshop supervision
• Strong diagnostic expertise with diesel engines, hydraulics, and deck machinery
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication abilities
• Willingness to travel across Malta and the Mediterranean region
• Valid driving licence

• CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) experience, advantageous

• Small to medium-sized commercial or fishing vessel experience
