About the Role
Outreach Recruitment is hiring a Commis for a professional kitchen in Malta. This entry-level role is ideal for someone starting out in the culinary industry, working alongside senior chefs to prepare food, maintain kitchen hygiene, and learn core kitchen procedures on the job. The Commis supports day-to-day kitchen operations, from measuring and organising ingredients to following recipes and presentation standards, while building the foundational skills needed to progress into more senior kitchen positions. This is a full-time, on-site position suited to candidates who are comfortable in a fast-paced kitchen environment and available for shift work, including evenings and weekends.
Our client operates a professional kitchen in Malta and is looking to grow their culinary team with a motivated entry-level Commis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of food under the supervision of senior chefs
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organise workstations
- Measure, prepare, and organise ingredients as directed
- Follow recipes and presentation guidelines
- Ensure food safety compliance
- Support team cleaning and daily kitchen tasks
- Handle ingredient storage and check deliveries
- Develop culinary techniques through on-the-job learning
Requirements
- Basic food preparation and kitchen hygiene knowledge
- Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Team collaboration skills
- Flexibility for shift work, including evenings and weekends
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary certification preferred
- Non-EU candidates must hold a valid Skills Pass
- Basic food preparation techniques
- Kitchen hygiene and food safety practices
- Ingredient measuring, storage and organisation
- Recipe and presentation guideline adherence
- Prior kitchen experience (beneficial but not mandatory)
- Culinary certification or relevant hospitality training
