Technical Systems Analyst — Luqa, Malta

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Technical Systems Analyst to join their IT Management Team and report directly to the Director of Technology. This role focuses on advanced systems analysis, integration troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation, rather than frontline IT support. The successful candidate will work closely with both technical and business teams to ensure systems operate efficiently and issues are resolved at the source. Team Structure The IT Management Team consists of: • Lead Data & Software Engineer • IT Operations Manager • Product Manager • Telematics Team Leader • Technical Systems Analyst

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse complex, integrated systems end-to-end, including databases, APIs, third-party platforms, and configurations.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on escalated incidents involving multiple systems or unclear issues.
  • Work close to production systems, identifying how issues occur and how changes impact the wider environment.
  • Conduct hands-on technical analysis using SQL and APIs (REST/JSON).
  • Query data independently, inspect logs, and validate system behaviour.
  • Collaborate with developers by providing clear, technically sound input.
  • Identify recurring system issues and recommend long-term improvements.
  • Support the Service Desk by improving first-line troubleshooting processes and documentation.
  • Bridge communication between technical teams and business users, ensuring clarity and alignment.
  • Confidently challenge assumptions, explain constraints, and provide realistic solutions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with complex, integrated IT systems.
  • Strong hands-on skills in SQL and API analysis (REST/JSON).
  • Ability to understand and explain end-to-end system interactions.
  • Experience working close to production environments and escalation-level issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to confidently say “no” when needed and justify technical limitations.
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of complex issues.
  • Open to non-Maltese candidates.
