About the Role
Our client, a well-established Maltese winery known for producing high-quality wines, is seeking a Building Services Maintenance Helper to support the Facilities team in maintaining buildings, production areas, and guest-facing spaces. The role contributes to the overall safety, efficiency, and appearance of the estate by assisting with routine maintenance, equipment support, and seasonal operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Estate & Facility Maintenance
- Assist with inspections, repairs, and general upkeep of buildings including production areas, barrel rooms, tasting rooms, administrative spaces, and other facilities.
- Perform minor carpentry, painting, patching, and general touch-ups to maintain facility standards.
- Support the maintenance of lighting, walkways, drainage systems, and structural elements across the estate.
- Production & Equipment Support
- Assist with cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of winery equipment such as pumps, hoses, tanks, presses, and bottling line components.
- Support preventive maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability.
- Report equipment issues promptly to help minimise downtime and maintain production flow.
- Mechanical, Electrical & Utility Support
- Provide assistance to technicians performing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks.
- Help monitor and maintain HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and temperature-controlled storage areas.
- Assist with the maintenance of water systems, wastewater treatment equipment, and sanitation infrastructure.
- Harvest Season Support
- Assist with the setup, cleaning, and dismantling of harvest-related equipment and work areas.
- Provide general labour support during harvest season to ensure smooth operations.
- Adapt to increased seasonal activity while maintaining a positive and team-oriented approach.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols including PPE requirements and safe chemical handling procedures.
- Maintain clean, organised, and hazard-free work areas.
- Support compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Education & Experience
- National Diploma from MCAST or equivalent qualification in a maintenance-related field.
- Experience in maintenance, construction, agriculture, or industrial environments will be considered an asset.
- Skills & Abilities
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and basic power tools.
- Willingness to learn equipment and processes specific to the production environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Physical capability to lift, carry, climb, bend, and work in varied environments.
