Our client, a prestigious and award-winning winery, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their expanding team. This full-time role has become available due to the winerys commitment to continuously improving its services and operations for its esteemed clientele.

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Financial Controller who is well-versed in accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent leadership abilities, and proficiency in financial software, including Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance department, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
  • Organize and streamline the finance function to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare financial and management reports, ensuring they are accurate and timely.
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis to support business decisions.
  • Maintain the financial ledgers and oversee all accounting processes.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and other financial statements.
  • Supervise the payroll process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in a timely manner.

Qualifications & Skills

  • MQF Level 6 or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience with Shireburn financial software is an advantage.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Maltese (oral and written).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with the capability to lead a team effectively.
