About the Role
Outreach Recruitment is looking for a qualified and compassionate Nurse Advisor to join a leading medical assistance team in Floriana, Malta. This full-time, on-site position is ideal for experienced nurses who want to apply their clinical expertise in a dynamic, international insurance and assistance environment.
As a Nurse Advisor, you will manage emergency medical cases, coordinate with healthcare providers globally, and ensure the highest standards of patient care and operational compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient triage and determine case urgency levels
- Authorise medical procedures (e.g. MRI, CAT scans) for straightforward cases
- Collaborate with operations teams on treatment recommendations and case management
- Refer complex or high-risk cases to external clinical advisers as appropriate
- Review medical documentation and monitor patient progress throughout the case lifecycle
- Organise medical evacuations and patient repatriations with logistics teams
- Detect potential policy violations and identify fraudulent medical invoices
- Maintain accurate records in the case management system
- Ensure full compliance with patient confidentiality and data protection regulations
Requirements
- Nursing certification (RGN or SRN) — essential
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience, ideally working alongside medical doctors
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Effective decision-making abilities, particularly under pressure
- Calm and professional demeanour when handling critical or sensitive situations
- Computer literacy with case management systems
- Understanding of healthcare confidentiality standards and regulations
Preferred Experience
- Background in travel insurance, emergency assistance, or aviation medicine
- Experience in primary care settings
Working Hours
Standard 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call responsibilities during nights and weekends.
