Role Overview

Overall, the Financial Controller plays a critical role in managing the financial health of the Malta companies and Business Units, providing accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making, and ensuring compliance with regulations. To lead a team of five and report to the Group CFO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly preparation of management accounts for a number of companies within the group.
  • Manage a team responsible for handling day-to-day transactions such as postings, reconciliations, receivables, payables, bank payments, and deposits.
  • Assisting with cashflow reporting to management.
  • Compiling various financial reports for both internal and external purposes.
  • Preparation and submission of regulatory returns as required, namely VAT returns and payroll (FS5s / FS7).
  • Managing the audit process with external auditors.
  • Assisting the Group CFO with specific assignments and projects as directed by management.
  • Supporting and guiding other team members within the Finance department.
  • Any other duties as needed from time to time.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have at least 3 years post-graduation work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Tools, namely Excel.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Education

  • Must be in possession of a degree in accountancy or be ACCA qualified. Candidates in their final stages of ACCA will also be considered.
  • Warranted in accounts locally.
