About the Role

Outreach Recruitment is seeking a highly experienced Auditor Doctor to join a specialised medical team in Floriana, Malta. This strategic, full-time, on-site role offers global exposure and significant professional development in the international insurance and medical assistance sector.

You will be responsible for the clinical review and validation of travel medical assistance cases worldwide, ensuring all medical decisions align with policy coverage and international healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and validate medical assistance cases including outpatient care, hospitalisations, surgeries, evacuations, and repatriations
• Assess the medical necessity and appropriateness of treatment provided
• Provide second opinions and clinical guidance to case coordinators and managers
• Ensure all decisions align with best clinical practices and insurer policies
• Evaluate high-cost cases and identify cost-effective care alternatives
• Validate medical invoices and detect billing inconsistencies or discrepancies
• Liaise with hospitals, clinics, and international medical providers globally
• Contribute to the development of medical protocols and clinical pathways
• Maintain thorough documentation and produce case trend analysis reports

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution — essential
• Valid medical licence
• 5–10 years of clinical experience
• Strong clinical judgement and analytical capabilities
• Understanding of international healthcare systems and standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Desirable Qualifications

• Postgraduate training in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Travel Medicine, or Tropical Medicine
• Experience in medical assistance, insurance medicine, or clinical auditing
• Additional language skills (French, Arabic, or Spanish)
