About the Role
Outreach Recruitment is seeking an experienced Marine Mechanical Foreman on behalf of a well-established organisation within the marine engineering and ship repair sector, based in Paola, Malta. This is a full-time, on-site role offering the opportunity to lead mechanical operations across ship repair, maintenance, and dry-docking projects in a dynamic shipyard environment.
This position is ideal for a hands-on mechanical professional with a proven track record of supervisory experience in a shipyard, ship repair, or large-scale industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise mechanical repair, maintenance, and installation activities on vessels and within the shipyard.
- Lead teams of mechanics, fitters, and specialised technicians across assigned projects.
- Monitor work progress and ensure compliance with project schedules and milestones.
- Supervise the maintenance, overhaul, repair, and replacement of mechanical equipment and shipboard systems.
- Coordinate activities involving engines, pumps, compressors, valves, auxiliary systems, and other machinery.
- Ensure compliance with technical procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements.
- Support the planning and execution of dry-docking and refit activities.
- Coordinate with clients, surveyors, classification societies, and project teams as required.
- Manage tools, equipment, and workforce assigned to mechanical operations.
- Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across all works.
Requirements
- Proven experience in marine mechanical maintenance, ship repair, or a similar industrial environment.
- Previous supervisory experience in shipyard or large-scale mechanical operations.
- Strong knowledge of marine machinery and shipboard mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical documentation.
- Experience with ship repair, refit, and dry-docking projects.
- Good understanding of shipyard safety regulations and industry standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Fluent English — written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical or trade qualification in mechanical engineering or a related marine discipline.
- Familiarity with classification society requirements and survey processes.
- Experience working with international crews or multinational project teams.
