Job Description

The role primarily entails ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service to clients in a fast-paced environment, be developing the team to follow routines and processes according to the stipulated work practices and company policies. The job also requires to
effectively delegate workload and motivate the team to achieve the agreed SPAR Store Outlet key performance indicators in a timely and systematic fashion.

A hands-on Management approach is also essential during heavy work load periods and so as to lead the team by example. The Supermarket Manager will also be required to regularly optimize the Store processes through regular process analyses and the relevant implementations to keep abreast with the current contemporary retail trends.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure to deliver through the store teams great customer experience to clients and provide the necessary assistance to the queries in a timely fashion
  • Conduct a daily briefly, at the start of both shifts by providing the necessary information, deployment, and communicating any new company policies and producers, special offers — emphasizing the importance that the team is smart, ready for work and smiling to customers during their shift.
  • Ensuring that the company Employee Code of conduct Policy is being implemented without fail.
  • Strict adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for proper accounting of all till activities in the store and ensuring that all bank deposits are being affected in a timely manner and as directed by the SPAR management team.
  • Ensuring that the store is ready for the next day trading before the store is open and ready for the next day.
  • Drive sales by encouraging active team cross selling and promoting great offers.
  • Taking measures to secure the safety of the stock by putting incoming deliveries in place.
  • Carrying out checks of freshness/ expiry dates, and stock rotation in accordance with instructions.
  • Keeping abreast with all internal communications, and being aware of key store targets and objectives.
  • Ensure effective handovers are being carried out by the supervisors upon the start/end of every shift.
  • Ensure all new starters to the business receive the correct training and development.
  • Manage and conduct work activities in such a way as to ensure the safety, health and welfare at work of all colleagues and customers.

Job Specification

  • Diploma or relevant certification in Management or more than three years’ experience in supervisory/mid management within the Food or Retail Industry Business.
  • Previous experience in managing people is an asset.
  • A high sense of commitment and work ethic.
  • Have a Self-Motivated, Well-Organized, Good-Communication and Inter-Personal Skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent time-management and business acumen.
  • Strong listening, presentation and decision-making skills;
  • Maintain a positive attitude of ‘can do’ whilst on duty.
